Questionat times, my dog, Dude seems to act aloof. He is a good boy and has a real sweet personality. You can call his name and he will wag his little stubby tail at you acknowleding you. He is 6 yrs. old and fixed. We have three other dogs. @ poms, and a chi. He gets along with everyone. He is so gentle. He sleeps with us which works out just fine. I get concerned about him because he just seems like he wants to be left alone. As far as manners, he is a good boy.
AnswerMost behavior stems back to those important first 8 weeks of life. If he was improperly socialized as a puppy then that can explain his behavior now. Or perhaps he has had a traumatic life. You didnt tell me how long you have had him and what his life or circumstances were like before so I can not give you a good idea of what is going on. All I can tell you it to keep up working with him and when he comes and sits on your lap or comes to you, reward him with a favorite treat. With him you want to reward good behavior and dont acknowledge the bad behavior as it sounds like he is very sensitive. I would also be sure to give him a LOT of one on one time WITHOUT the other dogs there. Just work slowly with him and continuously.
