Toy or Mini

Question
I just purchased a "toy" poodle pup from a breeder.  She is weeks and weighs about 4lbs.  Her mother weighs 8 - 10lbs and her father weighs 5lbs.  Did I really purchase a toy?? I'm a little concerned because she seems to be a big puppy...cute as pie..but big.

Answer
What people just dont seem to understand is that weight means NOTHING in poodles.  There are absolutely no weight restrictions on poodles.  Its the height of a poodle measured from the ground to the top of the withers (shoulders) that puts a poodle into one varity or another.  Toy poodles are 10 inches at the withers and under.  A miniature poodle is over 10 inches to 15 inches.  So unless you can tell me the height of the mother and father and the height of your puppy I would not be able to tell you if she is on track for her size or if she will be over sized.  However remember too that the size of the dog really has no barring on how great a pet they are going to be.
