Question
WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH A 6 WEEK OLD TINY TOY POODLE.  SHE IS JUST AS CUTE AS SHE CAN BE.  MY WIFE AND I DISAGREE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT "MILK" SHOULD BE A PART OF HER DIET.  YOUR INPUT ON THIS, AND ANY OTHER NUTRITIONAL SUGGESTIONS, WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

BEST REGARDS,
PHIL ALLEN

Answer
Mothers milk is great - but after that, I'd give her Science Diet or Iams puppy food, and then after about a 9 months to a year, switch to adult dog food.  If you give her cow's milk, she will most likely have a lovely case of diarrhea which is absolutely no fun for either of you.

I've also been told that if you go to your vet and get some Science Diet t/d and give it as a treat, it will drastically reduce the n umber of times your dog will have to have her teeth cleaned. It is supposed to be phenomenal for reducing tartar and plaque.

As for 'people food'- I'm a sucker at times as well, but I'd keep away (as much as possible) from giving her people food.  Her hair will be shinier and her health will be best with a good diet and lots of love. :)

Have fun - she is sure to be a joy to you!
