Question
My toy poodle is 3 yrs old,her cycle came on earlier this time than expected and has only been on about 4 days. She has already accepted another male poodle in such a short time .Is this normal? And yes im trying to breed her at least once before i get her spaded, this will be her first litter of pups.

Answer
Hello Tamara,
Even though she is accepting the male early, she shouldn't be in standing heat yet.  The male can breed her, but she probably won't have dropped any eggs yet.  You need to wait until about 9 days after you first see blood, and that should be her "Standing Heat" time.

You can let the male mount her now if he wants to get interested, but don't actually let them breed until she is in standing heat.

If you have other questions about this, feel free to ask.
