Question
Two parts to my question...First, how much should a six week old standard poodle weigh?  And, secondly is there any importance to the birth order?  The standard poodle puppy our breeder has picked for us is 2.5 lbs at 6 weeks and was the last puppy born.  Please advise.

Answer
It all depends upon the puppy and how big the parents are and how many are in the litter.  Without that information I cant really answer your question all that well.  No birth order doesnt have anything to do with it.  However I can tell you that my puppies at 6 weeks on this last litter (which was only 5 puppies) weighed around 8-10 lbs.  They were quite large puppies.  Your puppy is VERY small for 6 weeks.  What are the weight of the other puppies.  Are you sure these are standard poodle puppies? What are the height of the sire and dam? That is more the weight of a miniature or large toy poodle puppy at 6 weeks.  For a normal sized litter of say 8 or so puppies I would like to see a weight more like 6 lbs.
