smarts

Question
This is a vague question. Any answer will help. I have a 13 yrs old poodle. It
has taken me 13 yrs to realize their is no other dog like them. they are just
too smart. I have tried owning other dogs and failed. (I did not take the
responsibility lightly). I am now realizing it was another poodle I should have
gotten. Now I need to find the money. The question: Why are Std. poodles so
smart?   :)

Hello Mireille,
Poodles are smart due in part to the fact that they are retrievers and need to be intelligent to do their job.  They have been breed to bring out their smarts by responsible breeders that insure that their intelligence isn't lost by poor breeding.

That is the answer in a nutshell.
