QuestionHaving been the owner of a 65 pound standard poodle male for 12 years, I now
want a smaller standard or a large miniature. The breeders I have located seem
to be most interested in smaller miniatures or standards on the large side. I
have found one breeder in Alabama that specializes in the Klein poodle. Where
might I look for a small standard poodle?
AnswerI have little knowldege of different breeders. If you aren't interested in showing, you could try a rescued one. These are dogs that lost their home, but were taken into a foster home to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them. You may find a rescue near you starting at http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year. www.petfinders.org hasmany dog listed too.
