Question
Dear Kim, thank you for your previous answer. My Standard Pup Rufino is now 5 months old and has been on Wysong growth dog food. When should I switch him to Wysong adult maintenance dog food. I free feed him and he eats around 3 times a day about 1 cup a serving. Is Wysong considered a high quality food. Thank you, Antonella and Rufino

Answer
Hello Antonella,
Sounds like your puppy is growing into a handsome, loving, young adult.  I'll bet he has a bit of aa wild side now and then though.  Thats a Standard Poodle Pup for ya.

Since it takes a large breed dog a bit longer to mature than normal, you can leave him on the Puppy formula until he is 1 1/2 yrs old.  It would be even more beneficial if they had a Large Breed formula for him, because large breed dogs need support for their growing joints and bones when they are young, and most large breed puppy and adult dog foods offer these supplements in their foods.

You are doing great for Rufino with the amount of Wysong dog food your dog is eating per day, I have looked it over before and I like the fact that they use all natural ingredients in their foods and they also have a wide variety of different meats to choose from.  The only thing I would change about your dogs eating habits is to feed him 3 times a day and not free feed him.  When you free feed him, you never know when he eats so you don't know when he needs to go out to potty, but if you feed him on a schedule then he learns to potty 20-30 min. after he eats and there is no guesswork.  **This is just my suggestion so if what you are doing now works great for you, keep doing it.  All dogs are different, so what works for one dog won't necessarily work for another dog.
