Can poodles get depressed?

Question
My family and I just got a poodle and he looks so depressed that we do not know how to get him out of it. Is there any suggestions as to go about helping our poodle?

Answer
Any animal can be depressed.  You just got him it is going to take some time for him to adjust.  Especially if he is an older poodle and used to the situation he was in.  He is probably missing his previous family or owner.  Maybe evening missing other dogs that he was with.  Go slow with him.  It may take him a couple of weeks or more to adjust to the new family and feel secure in his place in the family.  Just make sure he has all his needs met.  Has plenty of toys and food and water and gets plenty of excersize.  He will come out of it.
