Question
We have a 3 yr old (est) white miniature poodle who loves most people but we are having trouble with him attacking other dogs especially male dogs.  His latest was picking up a toy male
and not letting go.  What can we do to help this little guy?
When we first got him he seemed to be friendly with other dogs and people.  He looks like he has a cateract in one of his eyes.

Answer
I would have his eye checked out.  That is unusual for a 3 year old poodle and their may be a potential problem like PRA and it could cuase permanent blindness.  It could be that what you are seeing is due to a bite from another dog.  That would explain his aggressiveness to other dogs.  Or it could be that his blindness or loss of sight in the one eye has him viewing other dogs as a potential threat.  Its very hard to say with a dog that was rescued what the underlying problems are and potential iisues.  I would suggest finding a pet behaviorist to help you work with him through this issue.  In the meantime I would keep him away from other dogs especially males if that is what he reacting too.
