Pooping in the house

Question
Hi this is Ariana, I have an 11 year old toy poodle named Pepper. He been having this current problem of pooping in the house. We wake up almost every morning to find he has pooped usually in the same spot on the carpet. Before this year we have NEVER had a problem with house training with Pepper. He was very well trained to hold it until we let him out, but now its almost every morning and my father is getting fed up and I don't want to lose him. I'm not sure if its just that Pepper is too old to really hold it in as long as he used to anymore or what, the vet says he's fine. Is there anything I'm missing? Or do you have alternatives to address this problem? Please help!

Answer
Have you have changed anything, type of food, feeding time, hours left alone, etc.?  If so, you may want to look at how the change may have affected him.  Otherwise 11 isn't old for smaller dogs.  I would have the vet give him a good checkup.

Do you make sure he runs around a bit on his last trip out at night?  He may need some exercise to stimulate him to empty his bowels before bed time.  Walk him around on leash or play a little fetch.

If he hasn't been crated at night, I don't like to suggest it, but you may need to confine him to reduce his activity overnight allowing him go make it until morning.

Go ahead and and make a follow up question if you need more help with any of my points.
