Question
Hey Kathryn. I just noticed you among the Poodle Experts and was touched by your "expertise" entry. My family's first dog, Peaches, was a poodle so we share your affection. And after moving out I will certainly get my own. Our second dog is a humane society Cockapoo that doesn't compare to her. I have heard they're great but he's terrible. His nickname in the pound was "loco"! Keep enjoying your "babies".

Answer
Thanks so very much for your kind words! I've always enjoyed the intellect of the poodle.....the down side is they can be VERY manipulative :)  - I find that instead of my owning them, they pretty much own me :).  I know what you mean about mixed breeds. They can be wonderful or a horror - doesn't seem to be an in-between! I had one poodle mix (Rags) who was phenomenal! Absolutely crackerjack smart and also my Houdini Dog.  THe one I have now is a mutt - no poodle I can see - sweet as pie and dumb as a rock.  I also have a toy and a teacup poodle at the moment (have had them for 10 years.

Sometimes, if you get a second dog for the first to play with, it lessens the 'mess' - gives him/her something else to concentrate on besides getting into mischief...

Of course, they might team up .... :D  you just never know!

Hugs and thanks!

Kathryn
