Question
We have a male standard, 9 mos. old. He has a very foul odor. It's seems to come in waves, sometimes there sometimes not. I really can't figure what it smells like except very strong, musky. Bathing doesn't help. Dog perfumes seem to mix with it and it's worse. We have asked the groomer and vet and both say nothing is wrong. Is it just him or is there anything we can do?

Answer
I would probably take him to another vet and talk to another vet about it.  Poodles should NEVER have an order at all.  It could also possibly be an allergy or reaction to the food you are feeding the dog. What are you feeding him?  If the food has any fish in it at all you may be smelling the fish oil.  Have you consulted you puppies breeder?  Is he chewing on himself at all?  What shampoo do you use?  What color is he?  He may be very sensitive skinned and the perfumes and shampoos you are using are not agreeing with him at all.  An odor could be a result of a major problem like diabetes.  They will have a very sickly sweet smell if they have this disease.  A quick blood test at your vet would help to detect this.
