Male poodle - aggression

Question
I have a toy poodle who will be a year old in a few weeks. Recently at night, when he is sleeping, if he is touched he gets real aggressive and wants to bite at whatever touched him. Is this specific to the age, breed, sex, coming into his sexual maturity or some other reason?

Answer
Hi Kathy :-)

This sounds like Poodle attitude hun. My youngest Poodle used to growl his head off when I touched him while he was sleeping or in a deep sleep. It is your Dogs way of telling you he doesn't want to be disturbed. :-)

If he keeps doing this, tell him "No" in a firm voice and point your finger then place it on the top of his nose lightly and say "No" again. Dogs seem to understand this means they have done something wrong and if you keep doing this he should tone it down a bit if not stop it altogether.

Take care and all the best and please leave me a comment.
