QuestionI have a miniature poodle and my husband has asthma and is afraid of having the dog in the house. My family, friends, and I keep telling my husband that poodles don't have dander and they don't shed when their coat is taken care of properly. He will only listen to a professional on this subject. I can't find any literature that will reinforce what we keep saying about poodles.
AnswerWell I can tell you both as a breeder and someone who suffers terrible allergies and has asthma as well as my hubby that poodles DO NOT shed, they have very little dander. They do have to be brushed often but poodles DO NOT bother us one little bit. Its one of the few breeds that I am not allergic too. They are pretty resiliant to bathing often which I do to keep dust and dirt and pollen out of their coats after being outside. Neither one of us have any problems at all with this breed.
