Guessing height at adulthood from puppy

Question
Hi, my 3 month old standard poodle is 20 lbs. 2 oz. and 18" tall.  I'm trying to guess how tall she will be.  Her mother was 35 lbs. and 20" tall and the father was 50 lbs. and 23" tall.  The vet said she is huge in height for her age.  I don't mind a tall dog but I was just wondering how tall we think she will get.

Answer
Hello Sher,
I just recently answered a question like this one and the answer is pretty much the same.  Even though you can get an estimate on how big or small your dog is going to be at adult height, there are alot of factors in determining a dogs height that have to be considered.  #1 is the parents, and the other dogs in your puppies background.  You can have a whole line of small, narrow boned, petite dogs but come up with one or two large and big boned dogs once in a while; they sometimes just pop up.  Proper feeding, nutrition, overall health and enviroment can also
determine size.  If you have an unhealthy animal, this can cause changes in the way they grow, affecting bone structure and therefore the animals size.
Std Poodles tend to grow height wise until they are around 9-11 months, and will fill out around 18 months.

With all that said, and going by what you have stated above, your girl will most likely be on the large side.  I would guestimate around 55-60lbs and 24"-26" at the shoulder.  If she is leggy now, that will mean that she will most likely be tall.  If you have any pictures of her, I would love to see them.
You can e-mail them to me at Topkdog@webtv.net
I could get a better idea of how big she will actually be.  I would like a full side view of her, and if possible get her standing near an item such as a car or chair etc. for comparsion purposes. (so I get her actual height, and she doesn't look smaller or larger in the picture)

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
