flea control on poodle

Question
We've rescued a miniature poodle. He is kept inside. I have use both Advantage and Frontline, but found they do not last more than a week or so. I've used these products for years on other dogs and cats. Have you heard about them being less effective on Poodles? I'm wondering if their non-shedding quality makes the product less effective. (such as a genetic anomaly that makes them different that shedding breeds)

Answer
Hi Amy :-)

Nope Advantage and Frontline isn't less effective on Poodles. But sometimes a certain Flea product will not work on some Dogs and the only thing you can do is speak to your Vet about a different Flea product. The Vet will have lots of different products hun.

Frontline and Advantage will stop working on Poodles if you wash the Poodle one week before or one week after applying either of the mentioned Flea treatments. If you have done this then this is why it isn't working. You need to bathe your Dog 2 weeks after applying the Flea treatment.

Take care and all the best and please leave me a comment.
