Answer
Hello Kelsy,
Sounds like your dog has a HotSpot on her shoulder.  Hotspots can occur for many reasons.  Allergies tend to be the major contributor of Hotspots, such as a dog being allergic to an ingredient in its food or being allergic to fleas.  They can also react to chemicals sprayed on yards or brought into the house, such as bug sprays or cleaning chemicals.
A hotspot is usually a scabby spot on the skin that begins like a skin abraison.  It can become infected and turn red, and it will get moist with yellow pus around the edges.  With treatment (usually a triple antibotic) the hotspot will start to heal and will get scabby.  Sometimes if the hair follicles were damaged, the hair will grow back in the dogs original hair color.  In other words, if you have a Silver dog that has a hotspot, the hair may grow in Black and will have to turn Silver as the hair ages.
It also sounds like your dogs hotspot is healing and should be better in a few days.  The hair should start growing in shortly also.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
