Question
I have 1 year old toy poodle when do i know how serious is her vomiting. I think I over feed her yesterday and she started vomiting last night and some this morning. Do I feed her normally today? She did this once before but not has bad the vet said i was over feeding her. I live in a rv trailer and sometimes I have to leave her alone for 1-2 hours every other day could that make her stress and vomit?

Answer
Hello Sara,
Sometimes stress can cause vomiting if the dog tends to be a nervous type, and over-feeding can also cause vomiting.  You can give your dog Pepto Bismol if she still is vomiting after eating.  For a dog her size, I would give her 1 to 1 1/2 cc's of Pepto to help coat her stomach and stop the vomiting.

You should also be feeding her about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food a day.  I would feed her twice a day, Morning and Evening.  Maybe 1 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup at night.  Find what works best for her and go with that.
If you have to leave her and you think that she gets stressed, try sleeping in an old tee-shirt for a couple days to get your scent on it, then leave it with her in her dog crate.  This way, you can be assured that she will not get into anything while you are gone and she will have your scent to help her feel comforted.  You can also put her favorite toy in with her and a treat as long as its a treat that you feel safe with while she is alone.

Give this a try and see if she gets better for you.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask me.
