The best thing for dry skin is no bathes at all.  Feed a decent chow and little else, brush regularly, and seldom if ever give the dog a bath.  that should leave its skin and coat in good shape and no odor problem.

When you must bathe it, use a shampoo meant for dogs and be sure and rinse out every last bit.
