Question
QUESTION: Hi
I have a girl toy poodle this morn I noticed she was limping and not sure what caused it all of a sudden.last night she did run outside and because she's very black in color I didn't notice so a neighbor brought her back. I'm guessing did the neighbor kick her out of fright because she does tend to run towards strangers. Then I'm guessing did my 3yr old son hurt her by mistake because he do tends to play with her roughly or did my boyfriend make her get out the bed and she didn't get down properly...all these questions run through my head but I do notice she's not as active as ususal and just wants to lay under me all day because walking on her back right leg seem to be a struggle so all she would do is sit on help. The vet she goes to is close and I have been trying to stretch her limb to see would that make it better. So since it is the first day I noticed this I'm wondering should I wait it out to see will it get better or just take her to the vet the following morning

ANSWER: Hello Tiffany,
Chances are that your girl just pulled something while running rather than being kicked or pushed off the bed.  Often times since Poodles are high energy dogs, they can over exert themselves while playing and then after a couple of hours you will see them react to that over extention by limping.  You can take her to the Vet if you want, but I think that she should be ok within the next couple of days if not sooner.  If you have Tramadol pain relivers, you can give her 1/2 tablet of those, but don't give her anything else.  Other pain relivers are hard on a dogs liver.
Also, don't let her run for the next couple of days, to help her get over this.  After a couple of days you should see her acting better.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask me.

QUESTION: Hey Kim I found out that he did take her off the bed and he said once he placed her down somehow she got hurt so is it still a pulled muscle

Answer
Hello again,
Sorry to hear that she pulled a muscle.  The best course of action for sore muscles is rest and cold.  If you can put an ice pack on the place where she is hurting, this will help some.  I would put an ice pack on it about 2 times a day for 2 days.  You will want to cool it down for about 15 min or so.

Again, sorry for her being hurt.  I know how hard it is to see your baby suffering.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you have.
