Poodle Peeing behavior problem

Question
What would trigger a behavior problem of peeing on top of the dining table?!  He did this even after he was let out.  This happened 3 days in a row just after the holidays.

My friend has a male poodle who is 2 years old and he has been neutered.  He came from a poodle rescue center and when he arrived at home he already knew to go out to pee and poo.
My friend had family guests who stayed over for 2 weeks and they left this past weekend.  There were 4 children at home all at once during the 2 weeks.
Do you have any suggestions about what may have caused this poodle's unusual behavior.  I am worried for the family and the little poodle.  They love him very much and he has been able to help the children after they lost their dad.

Please help me to find out what I can do to prevent this problem.  I would not want for the little poodle to lose this loving family.  Thank you so much.

Answer
Neutering helps many behavior problems, but is no cure all.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.

Exactly what was happening is hard to say, but I am sure it was some sort of a way of challenging your friend's leadership.  It had nothing to do with housebreaking.
