Question
I heard that poodles are hypo-allergenic, is this true?  Are people who are allergic to dogs/cats not allergic to poodles?  Please let me know.

Answer
Hi Sarah.

Poodles have hair as opposed to fur, and they don't shed - largely, I think, because of the nappy hair they have.  There is minimal if any pet dander as a result.  I am alltergic to most breeds of dogs if in the same room/vicinity for an extended period of time (my sister's labs live with her and once when I went to visit her my left eye actually swelled almost shut).  I have never had that reaction or ANY to a poodle.  Keep in mind, this is MY experience.

Generally, poodles don't cause the types of allergic reactions that other dogs too.

Add to this the fact that they're one of the smartest dog breeds there is.....and very much 'people' dogs - and you have a phenomenal companion.

I hope this helps a bit.
