Question
My 3 year toy poodle has been very sensitive when I touch him lately. When I pick him up or touch his skin he wimpers. He also likes to constantly like his paws. Today he is not himself he cant seem to feel comfortable in one spot and is constantly moving around. He has no diahreah and is drinking water normally. I dont know what it could be. I'm going to the vet and have them do blood work.

Thank You,

Cindy

Answer
Could he have been sunburned or even clipper burned during grooming?  Or perhaps his hair has gotten too long and is matted and bothering his skin.  It could also be that your boy has developed an allergy to his food.  This is often manifested in excessive licking.  Especially the paws.  You can also try feeding him some plain yogurt with his food to help keep skin, ears, and eyes healthy.  I would highly recomend trying a different food to see if that would work.  If that doesnt have an effect you might try changing to a sensitive skin formula food.  Also using an oatmeal shampoo and not using spray collognes on him when grooming will help.  But taking him to the vet is a very good idea.  Good luck at the vets I hope the blood work comes out ok for you.
