Question
My husband and I want to adopt a standard poodle from a rescue organization (we had one before and need to get a purebred because my husband is allergic). We have been offered two that are described as poodles, but I don't know if they can be purebred because their heads are black (including ears) and their bodies are white. Do any purebred standards have coats with mixed colors?

Answer
Hello Pat,
Poodles come in about any solid color including Black, White, Silver, Blue, Red, Apricot, Cream, Brown, and Cafe Au Lait; but now days you can also find them in mixed colors consisting of Brindle (a two-tone stripe pattern), Phantom (marked like a Doberman or Rottweiler), Parti (any solid color and White patches), Champane (any solid color with dark head, tail, ears and sometimes down the back), Tuxedo (any solid color with a White collar), and Mis-Match (any solid color with white on the chest and/or feet).
Though I have never heard of Poodles with Black heads and White bodies, there is possibly a color combination like that.
If you have a picture of them, I would be interested to see them.  You can send it to Topkdog@webtv.net

I will see if anyone has seen or knows about Poodles that are this color.

I will get back to you if you able to send me pics of them, when I find out more.
