Question
I currently have three poodles, one is 11 he is a mini, the other is 8 he is a toy and the last is four she is a toy as well (mini is 18 pounds, boy toy is 6, girl toy is 8). I am thinking of introducing another member to the family (we love love our dogs and have had no problems, plus the toys are so small its like having 2 for 1 haha)but this time we wanted to look into a standard, do you think this would be a problem with the others. Right now they get along great together, very loving and affectionate, of course in the begining it is a little difficult to familiarize themselves, but other than that would it be ok to mix a small dog and large dog?? I am afraid of something horrific happening. I am just unsure of whether or not it is a smart idea.

Answer
Nope I have my standards and toys all together and they get along great.  Its usually the little ones that run the house LOL.  They boss the bigger ones around.  I would suggest that when getting a standard to be sure to get a young well socialized puppy or a puppy that has been around the smaller dogs that will help the transition for you.  There are many breeeders out there that do all three sizes in the poodles and have them together.  I personally have had small and large breeds together all my life and never had any problems at all.  They were all great friends.  Even out German Shepherd and our Doxie got a long great together.  You will be fine and they will learn to be best friends.
