Predicting poodle size

Question

Whizard @ 10 weeks
I can tell from prior questions that we are among company in being folks who "just can't wait" to know how big our standard is going to be.  I'd love YOUR opinion on this our 3rd (two prior were both 50#). Our pup is exactly next weekend, is 39 pounds, 21.5" at shoulder. Dam was 42#, Sire 48#. As we age, we were hoping for a Moyun (sp?) for ease of picking up or emergencies...Do you have a guess?  (PS we went with a bi-color or "abstract" (black with white chest, toes and chin) after 2 all black...just so we would let go of reminders of prior bridges crossed. We loved to have so many choices and couldn't resist Whizard after flirting with his Phantom colored sister Juliette.
Thank you

Answer
Hello Pegi,
Yes, you are not the only ones who would love me to Guesstimate just how big their dog is going to be.  As long as you understand that this is just my guess and without really seeing your dog up close and getting to feel his bones and frame, that I can't acurately tell how big he will actually be.

Judging on his parents size and by the size he is now, and the fact that he is male, (since males tend to run larger that females) I would say that he will be around 52-56# and about 22-24" @ the shoulder.  I didn't see how old you said he was now so that might throw my guess off a bit, but he looked big in his 10 week old pic.

He really is a nice looking fellow and I hope he turns out to be the perfect size for you.

Thanks for using AllExperts.com and if I can be of further assistance, please ask.
