Question
i have a three month old poodle who's hair on his head is kind of curly but his body is kind of straight. he is supposed to be a full breed poodle. did i get taken?

Answer
Hello,
Sorry for the delayed answer, but I don't usually check the Question Pool.

Since your puppy is only 12 weeks old, he still has whats called Puppy Hair, which tends to be a softer and less curly coat.  When your dog gets to be around 9-11 months old (give or take a month) his adult coat will start to grow in.
A Poodles adult coat is usually more dense and course than the puppy hair, and therefore will curl more.
You will want to brush your dog frequently when he starts the "coat change" because Poodles can develop severe mats from the adult hair growing up into the puppy hair.  The most common areas for mats during the coat change is under the front legs, in the groin area, and behind the ears.

If you haven't seen your dogs parents, you should contact the breeder and see if you can obtain pictures of them.  This will give you an idea of what their hair is like so you will better know what to expect with your puppy.

If it turns out that your puppy has a softer coat than what you expect, you might contact the breeder and let them know that the puppy you got has a soft coat.

Well, I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions, please feel free to ask me.
Heres hoping you and yours a Happy Howliday.
