Question
I have an eight year old male poodle. He is a love and we adore him. However for the last few months he has been shedding profusely. Last November her broke a toe nail on his back paw. The vet tried four different antibiotics at different times trying to clear up the infection without surgery. Finally, the vet had to remove the toe nail. After another month of antibiotics, the toe had to be amputated. Thank goodness the invection has finally cleared up. However, now he is loosing large amounts of hair constantly.
Do you have an answer for me and a solution to the shedding?
Thank you in advance for any information.
Sincerely,
Jean (mother of Sam Adams - black poodle)
P.S. Our female, white, standard poodle does not shed.

Answer
Jean,
I saw that you mentioned that Sam loved to eat Crazins that drop onto the floor.  I am not sure about Cranberries, but you have to watch dogs eating Raisins because they are very toxic to dogs and if they eat too many, raisins can kill.
Here is a website that lists foods that are toxic to dogs:

Talk to you later,
