Red Stain on Vaginal area

I have a middle-aged white toy poodle who has developed a dark rust-like stain on her little wick (vaginal area).  She doesn't seem to be uncomfortable but the sudden change in color has me concerned.  What do you think?

Hello Cathy,
It is most likely due to her licking her vaginal area, and the chemicals in her saliva mix with chemicals in the hair which cause the red staining.  
It is the same thing that causes the stains around the eyes and mouth.  

Have your Groomer shave her valva area close (not close enough to razor burn her) to keep the hair away from that area.
