Question
Hi Brandie,

Since osteosarcoma most commonly affects larger breeds,& we adore Standards, would it behoove us to look for SHORT
STANDARDS? Unfortunately,we are going through a heartbreak
with our current blk standard.

Thank you for your advice.

Answer
Hi Dyane,
I am so sorry for your heart break issue with your standard. I have never had to deal with this and I am so very thankful.  I did find this site helpful when a friend of mine was looking for information.  You may have found it already but it did explain the pain issues well for us.

As far as looking for short standards - Minature Poodles are great dogs and poodles are poodles if your really afraid that you may run into this again, why not just consider a minature. There are plenty of dogs that are right between the two sizes.  I doubt you'l run into this again anyway, the chances of that happening would be slim.  There are a lot of healthy standards out there and I'm sure if you look into the adult dogs well you'll find healthy lines.

Good Luck and give your baby a hug for me.

Brandie
