projected size of my mini poodles

QUESTION: Hi! My puppy was 3-lbs at eight weeks old
the mom and dad are on the smaller side.  What is the projected size of my mini?
Also why does her face have a bad smell?

ANSWER: Hello Mary,
If your dog is about 3 lbs now, I project his adult size to be around 20-22 lbs and around 12" at the shoulder.  It does depend on the size of the parents, so if you get their weights and heights, you will have a better idea of what size your dog will be.  

I am not sure why her face smells funny.  Most puppies at 8 weeks of age, have whats commonly known as "Puppy Breath", which is a kind of sweet smelling scent that many dog owners just love.  Its kind of unique to puppies.  
Other than that smell, if her face smells really bad, you can wash it, using a washcloth, with a mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda and Dish Soap.  It is the mix you use if a skunk sprays your dog.  Its about 1/2 cup Hydrogen Peroxide, a 2 teaspoons of Baking Soda, and a squirt of the dish soap.  You can 1/2 the mixture if you are only going to wash her face with it.  Use the washcloth so it doesn't get into her eyes.

QUESTION: wow that sounds so big compared to what the breeder said  they said 10-12 lbs!! but I guess we will see!! she is five months old now and is seven pounds.  But thank you for the reply also the solution for cleaning her face!!

Hello again,
My size projection is based on the average size of a Miniature Poodle, not just on your dogs size now, and is also just a guesstimate.  Again, you will need to check out the size of the parents, and even the size of the puppies now if possible.  If your dog is on the larger size of the puppies, he may be a bit on the large side, but if he is average then he will be smaller than I predicted.
