wet dog food?

Question
I have a standard poodle, and saw in another answer  posted that wet dog food was considered better than dry.  Why, and is it breed specific?

Many thanks!

Answer
Hello BJ,
Actually, I perfer it if dogs will eat dry food over wet food.  With dry food, the dog has to crunch it up to eat it and this crunching action will help scrape the tartar off the teeth.  This will help keep his teeth and breath more healthy.  I suggest wet food if a dog needs to gain some weight, if a dog isn't eating very good, or if the dog is sick and needs better nutrition.
You can find alot of different dry foods that are healthy and nutrious for your dog.  Make sure that the food you are using contains meat as the first ingredient and its perfered that the dog food contain rice rather than corn as corn is harder to digest than rice.

I hope that this helps you some.  If you have other questions about this or other Poodle questions in general, please feel free to ask.
