Question
I have a 6yr old toy poodle. About 4 or 5 wks ago he was laying on my bed and kind of started shaking alittle his front legs went stiff and curled around my arm his eyes went kind of blank this lasted about 2-3minutes. After he was himself again. Last night this happened again the same exact way. What I have read this sounds like a mild seizure? I can't really afford vet charges at this time Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You

Answer
Hi Kimberly :-)

Yes this is a mild Epileptic Seizure hun. Unfortunately the Poodle breed and quite prone to Epilepsy. Luckily, however some forms of Epilepsy does not require treatment if the Seizures and rare and not very common.

But because your Dog has had 2 seizures in 4-5 weeks, it is advisable you contact your Vet for some advice and for a check up to make sure nothing physical is causing the Seizures.

I would recommend you have your Dog insured because this will help afford the Vet bills or alternatively, contact your usual Vet and ask them can you pay the Vet treatment in installments until you have some more cash available. Some Vets will allow you to do this if your in financial difficulty.

The only treatment for Epileptic Seizures is medication prescribed by your Vet. There is no available Herbal or Home Remedies that will treat Epilepsy.

Take care and all the best and please leave me a comment.
