Apricot Toy Poodle

Question
I just got my apricot toy poodle 3 days ago at a puppy store and she was perfectly healthy until 2 days ago she started coughing and is even having diarrhea! :( I brought her to the vet and she said that my Martini (name of my poodle) has amebiasis, she asked me to make her drink Flagyl for that and dog vitamins for the cough. I am freaking out because I am so worried. She sleeps all day but she gets to eat. She also coughs every time she wakes up. I'm so scared. :( What do I do to treat her?

Hello Diana,
You might contact the Pet Store that you got your puppy from and let them know that your dog is sick.  They should (in my opinion) cover costs because the dog was sick a day after you brought her home.  Bring the Vets paperwork with you and see what they say.  
You should also continue to treat her with the Flagyl as it will help with her diarrhea.  If her diarrhea is bad, you can give her some Pepto Bismol to help her stomach some.  For a dog her size, 1 cc should do it.  
Diahrrea isn't a large concern, but you should try to make your dog drink water if you can so that she doesn't get dehydrated.  If she doesn't want to drink much, try adding a small bit of chicken broth (no salt) to her water.  Drinking more water will also ease her cough some.  To help her throat, you might also try putting ice in the water bowl.  The colder water may encourage her to drink more and will soothe her throat.  
If she continues to cough after a couple days you may want to give your Vet another call.
