Standard poodle Peeing as payback?

Question
We have a two year old standard poodle. She has been potty
trained since she was about 12 weeks for the most part. She
is not a big eater so, we leave her food out all the time
and she grazes. She is not crated, she roams the house
freely - except for a couple of off-limit rooms. (Doors are
closed). She is fantastic about potty-ing outside except
when she is "mad". I don't know any other way to put it. If
we are playing in the front yard where she is not allowed,
she sneaks into my sons room and poops (and occasionally
pees) in the floor. Only when we are in the front yard - she
can see us through the windows. It sounds silly - i know.
She will also occasionally poop/pee in the same spots, when
we are out of town. No matter how often she is let out and
how often she pees/poops.

We give her a lot of freedom. She sleeps at the foot of my
son's bed and spends most of her time right with us. We love
her and we deal with the accidents. At this point we have
kind of decided that it is about the only bad thing about
this terrific dog and we'll just have to live with it. But,
if there is some way to curb this behavior would love to
hear it!!! (I do know she returns to the same spots b/c she
can probably still smell in the carpeted areas - my question
is more about the timing of the behavior rather than where
she is actually peeing).

Answer
Hello Jacki,
Alot of dogs are smart enough to know when they are doing something to get back at their owners, just like a jealous child would do.   I would like to say that there is something you can do, but there isn't really much you can do as far as training is concerned.  You can try something like playing with her before you and the kids go into the front yard.
Also, try getting her into Obedience classes and let your son help.  This will help build the bond between your son and dog and will also let her see that both your son and her are getting attention.

When you clean these potty places up, use Kids N' Pets Mess product that you can get from Wal-Mart (in the Cleaning Section).  It has enzymes that will "eat" the odor out of the carpet.

As for timing, it sounds like she CAN hold it, but that she chooses to go in your sons room as punishment rather than that she can't hold it.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
