QuestionI have two toy poodles . Both weigh approx 8 pounds . The female is 3 years old and the male 5 . The both have good pedigree lines . We are really trying to breed them at the moment but the male is having severe difficulty in finding the right position if you know what I mean . They are both fantastic house pets and we have good homes lined up the puppies . This is not a money making effort .
Any suggestions on helping the male to get it right would be greatly appreciated .
What are the chances of a C section in the case of toy poodles .
AnswerI would hold the female so that she can not shift positions while the male is breeding her. He may try a lot but usually when the female is fertile they then get it right. Just have to keep trying. There isnt much you can do but let him do the work. I have tried either rasing the female or the male but that doesnt work very well. If they are both virgins though it maynot be a good idea to breed them together. I would find a male around that is a proven breeder and bred him to your female. If neither one of them know what to do that makes it a LOT more difficult and you may not get a good breeding. Some males the longer the time is before they breed (like his 5 years of age) just will never breed. You could talk to your vet about AI. That maybe another option for you although the sucess rate isnt great all the time.
