neutered toy poodle

Hi Kim

My toy poodle Tommy is now 9 months old and was neutered yesterday. No vet wanted to neuter him earlier. He was a little bit sleepy after it, but now he is very active again. He wants to lick the wound and it seems it is itchy. I would like to ask if you can recommend how to heal the wound, I have heard that it is good to clean it by herbal tea. I checked and hi wound is a little bit dirty from the floor. What kind of fodd can I give him?

Hello Ivana,
If you need to clean the wound, you can use water and some Hydrogen Peroxide to gently clean the wound when it gets dirty.  You can also put triple antibotic on it to help with the healing process or Benedryl cream to help with the itching.  
I can see how herbal tea would help with healing, so if you want to and he will let you, you can clean it with that.  

I would feed him his regular food with maybe some canned food on it for a few days until he is eating like normal.  

If he doesn't have a regular food, you can try any of the top name brand foods such as:  Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Nutro Natural Choice, Bil-Jac or Royal Canin (they make a food formulated just for toy Poodles)
