Standard poodle growth rate

Question
Hello!  We have a standard poodle puppy who is about 4 months old (born on 1/20).  She weighs about 18 pounds.  It seems like she grew like a weed the first few months, but has now slowed down.  How long will she continue to grow.  We are hoping she will be a large dog but are worried she won't grow much more.  Thanks!

Answer
Standard poodles will grow up to 2 years of age.  They will grow a bit then plateau off and then grown some more.  They grow in spurts.  Weight really means nothing in poodles.  It is the height that we go by.  From the ground to the top of the withers (shoulders).  She does sound small to me for 4 months.  Most of my girls have been heavier at 4 months.  Probably more like 25-35 lbs at that age.  But like I said you go more by height than weight.  All poodles will grow at different rates.  So she could be a slow grower.  However if you were able to see the parents she probably will not exceed the height of the tallest parent so they would have given you an idea of what she would be as an adult.
