Poodle with yeast infection on paws

Question
My puppy has a yeast infection on his feet.  This is his second round of medication.  I am wondering should I try some holistic treatment along with the doctor's treatment. He doesn't bite his feet that much but after starting the second treatment, I can't get him to stop.  Also my mother is wondering if it is something he can give to us.  He has been on Science Diet for puppies since 6 weeks old and will be a year old on June 29.  Thanks for any help you can give us.

Answer
Hello Terri,
There are lots of things you can do for yeast, but the most beneficial is to change the dogs diet and to treat the Yeast the correct way rather than what most Vets will tell you.
This is a link for some yeast medication that you can apply topically to your dogs hotspots to help relieve the itching and will also help with secondary infections that can occur from the dog biting his skin.

This other link goes into detail about yeast and the best ways to treat yeast rather than going to your Vet, getting medicine that works for a little while, then the yeast comes back and it becomes a vicious cycle.  This lady has been where you are with the yeast (and has had to deal with much worse) and therefore has come up with this treatment plan that will help not only get rid of the yeast your dog has now, but her plan will keep your dog yeast free for life if you stick to her plan.
It is time consuming and at first may seem a bit costly, but on the other hand, you have already spent money at the Vet and are already on a second treatment.

I have read through all this info and it seems to be the best source of cure for yeast infections.  Many Vets are uneducated about how to treat yeast and will only treat the immediate symptoms, but not cure the underlying issues.  Therefore you treat and retreat the yeast, but it never really goes away.  With Linda's treatment course, you can help your dog to get over the problems of yeast and live a comfortable life again.

I hope this helps you some.  I know it isn't the answer you are looking for, but is the best course of treatment for your pet.  If you have other questions for me about this, or other questions in general about your dog, please feel free to ask me.
