Mating my miniature poodle

Question
I moved to Canada few months ago, and i bought a miniature poodle two month ago (he is 5 months now) then i was told that all dogs in Montreal are Neutered (they take their testicals out). i have a moral problem doing this, as i believe that i do not have the right to buy an animal then take his animal instict out because it is too inconvenient for me. but since eveyone is doing it, i dont know what i will do if i choose not to have the operation. How can i mate him? only breeders seem to mate their dogs here. This is my first pet ever and i have no experience in this at all. Please let me know 1. when do poodles need to mate 2. how many times a year and for how many years? 3. How can i mate my dog (find a female for him to mate with). I am not interested in having puppies and will be willing to pay money to mate him. I dont want him to have puppies but just want him to live and enjoy his animal instinct because it is his right to do so. I would highly appreciate an informed opinion as i am really lost as to what to do. thank you so much. Maha

Answer
One must not impose our human morals on dogs.  Procreation is an important part of being human.  Dogs and other animals are different.  Due to carelessness, greed, and misunderstanding of dogs, we breed too many of them.  In the US, we slaughter millions a year for lack of homes.  It sounds like Montreal has lessened the problem through neutering.

1 Any male not neutered will be frustrated and constantly wanting to mate.

2 No matter how often, it will constantly be wanting to.

3 There are always people looking for males to mate with their females.

This is too complex to be answered completely here.  You will find much more at http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/articles.html#breeding
