teacup poodle sick

Question
We have a teacup poodle which has been sick for over a week now.  The vet has done xrays, brain scan, some blood tests now more blood tests done on Monday.  Our dog has no energy and when she tries to walk she leans to the right and tips over.  The vet says that the glucose levels are low so we are giving her something for that this weekend until Monday when she goes for another blood test.  What could be wrong.  Her brain is ok no tumor after the scan but we are so worried about her.  All she does is lie on the couch and sleep, she does drink some water and has had a little bit of food.  She goes outside with us and she does take a pee but then has to be picked up before she tips over again.  Any ideas of what might be wrong?  She ways only 3.3 pounds.

Answer
Hello Caroline,
I wish I had an answer to your question, but I am not a Vet and can't diagnose your dog over the internet.  It does sound like her glucose levels are low, which is making her tired and lethargic, but it could be other things also; such as Diabetes, Anemia (low blood production), or even something less major like a flu type illness that drains her energy making her unsteady on her feet.
Just make sure to keep her comfortable, and that she is eating, drinking, and going to the potty regularly.  Hopefully you will find out more on Monday.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.  Good Luck and Thanks for using AllExperts.com,
