coarse coat

My minature poodles are over 2 years old, I have noticed that their coat is turning from very soft and curly to straight, dry and coarse.  They hve both been recently nutered.. Is this normal, or can it be a problem with diet?.

Dietary problems are rare if a dog is eating a commercial dog food and little else.  If they are getting a lot of other stuff, cut back on it.  It could be allergies, but unlikely more than one dog.  Too many baths lead to dry skin and coat.  Frequent brushing with a soft bristle brush shouldkeep them clean and fresh.  
If cutting out baths and reducing snacks doesn't help, talk to the vet.
