Question
I have a 3yr old 25" std poodle hes great very smart how ever he drags his feet all of them . I keep telling him to pick his feet up when he walks , he don't listen lol. Also has a problem with judgeing distance like going up and down stairs, jumping over things or getting in car have u ever come heard of this? I've had dogs all my life some pure bred some pound puppies of unknown origins NEVER have I come across anything like this. I should tell u I bought him as I was going into a Safeway store All 3 puppies were on the thin side was told they had papers gave them to me NOT AKC didn't plan on breeding #wouldn't be good anyway only 1 testical dropped#he is fixed . Vet said he's healthy wt is 65 lbs.

Answer
Hello Denise,
It could be either a visual thing, where he can't judge depth very well, it could be an inner ear problem or it could be a nerve issue (though with a nerve problem, you might see wobbly hindquarters or even him falling down some).  I would say more of an eye problem since you didn't mention any ear problems.  To help him walk, you could pick up his speed some, making him jog rather than walk.  You can also weave, slow down and speed up, or walk first on the sidewalk then on the grass to keep him conscious of where he is putting his feet.  You could also buy him some booties so he is conscious of things on his feet as he is walking.
Try this test.  Have him stand, and take his back foot and turn it under so he is standing on his toes.  If he turns it over himself, then it is probably more visual.  If he leaves his foot turned, it could be a neurological problem and you should contact your Vet for more information.  Try both back feet a couple of times.

If stairs are a problem, you might use some kind of marker on them.  Dogs see Yellow very clearly, so putting a Yellow strip on them might help if its an eye issue.  Same with the car, put a Yellow towel or blanket on the seat for him to see so he can judge the height of the seat.  If you are having him jump polls, use Yellow duck tape and tape it where you want him to jump such as in the middle of the poll.

Try these things and if you have further questions for me about this, or other general questions about your boy, please feel free to ask.
