12yr old poodle

i have a 12 yr old male poodle and no matter how much i take him out to use the bathroom he seemes to be getting up in the middle of thr night and using the bathroom on our basment floor i dont know what to do. we are geting new carpet soon and dont want to have this problem contue!

Poodles are very territoral and love a lot of attention. The reason for him urinating on bathroom or basement floor could be physical or emotional.

If you have a cat or another dog in your house, this is probably why he is urinating in your home. If he picks up another dog or cats scent, he will spray urine or faeces on the floor to let the other animals know this is his home and they are not allowed in that room.

Alternatively, it could be because he has Kidney problems or a weak bladder. If he is drinking more than usual and you have noticed this since he became incontinent in the house, then take him to your Vetinarian and have some blood tests done to rule out Kidney problems, Diabetes, Water infection and a weak bladder.
