Question
Hi!  I have an 8 month old toy poodle who is pretty skinny and would like to try him with your hamburger, egg, apple, etc. recipe, but I just wanted to make sure on whether you are supposed to cook the hamburger and egg or not?  I know that probably sounds silly, but I just wanted to make sure.  He's my baby and I don't want him to get sick by doing something wrong.
Thanks, Molly

Answer
Hello Molly,
To be on the safe side, it would be best to cook the meat and eggs first.  When I make the recipe, I cook the sardines, meat, and eggs together.  I drain the Olive oil off the sardines first because cooking the Olive oil will reduce its benefits.  Use the Oil with the spinach and blend it together to form a spinach juice.  After cooking the meat, eggs, and sardines, let it cool a bit then add the spinach juice to it.  Then mix the applesauce, garlic powder, carrot and brown rice to the other mixture.  The cottage cheese can be used to add weight if your dog needs it.

1 lb Hamburger, Lamb, or Turkey Burger
1 can Sardines in Olive Oil
1 cup Spinach, blended with the Oil of the Sardines
1 egg scrambled
1 Apple Blended (or you can use 1/2 cup of Applesauce)
1/8 tsp Garlic powder
1 grated carrot
1/2 cup brown rice, cooked using broth (either a meat or Veggie variety) for better flavor
1/2 cup Cottage Cheese (optional)

This recipe is for a large dog, so feel free to half it if nesessary.  You can keep it in a sealed container for about a week.  It has vitamins and nutrients that are good for a dogs skin and coat.

BTW, No your question doesn't sound silly to me.  Some people feed their dogs raw food and some raw food is healthy for your dog, such as raw chicken wings or necks because they are softer (and won't splinter) than when they are cooked.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
