Question
I am about to buy a husky/lab mix i was wondering if you knew what they are like tempermant wise.  Do they shed as much as huskies?

Answer
Labs and huskies are both double coated breeds, so my initial thought is that you won't reduce shedding that much.  On the other hand, Labs weren't bred to survive temperatures that are 30 to 50 degrees below zero, so it shouldn't be as thick.  Any time you are working with a mixed breeding, it's tough to pick out anything specific because the lines are so crossed and you are never sure which traits are going to come to the forefront.  That's one reason purebred dogs are easier to work with - you usually know what you are getting yourself into.  I'm not as familiar with labs, but from my own experience, they are rather intelligent, obedient, goofy acting dogs that like to have fun.  Huskies on the other hand are intelligent, disobedient, and fun loving dogs.  So, put those two together and you've probably got an intelligent dog that will think about what you say before changing the command into a game that will be fun for him.  ;)  Actually, I've had pretty good experience with labs, so it should be a good dog, but I wouldn't count on it for a serious reduction in shedding.  ;)
