Question
Hello! my name is Noelia and I'm a 18 year-old girl form Buenos Aires, Argentina.
My dog is called Ulises, he's sometimes very mischievous, but he is so friendly, he had never bit to anyone.
Well my question is (I don't know if you can answer me, if not don't worry) I want to have a cat and Ulises really doesn't like them, in fact I think that he hates him, if he probably had the chance he would have eaten my neighbour's cat. What can I do? I really want to have a cat.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Answer
Hello Noelia!  It's good to hear from you.  I'm sorry that it took so long to answer.  I attended a wedding on Sunday and a funeral on Monday.

You may have already answered your own question.  It sounds like you know what will happen.  My dogs hated my cat too.  In fact, I have a scar on my hand where my cat bit me.  The dogs chased her up a small tree and when I reached up to get her she really sunk her teeth in my hand.  I don't blame her though.  She was in a terrified frenzy and thought I was a dog grabbing her.  She was just trying to protect herself.

Unless you can separate them, I wouldn't risk it.  Chances are that one of them will have to go and that's not a fun problem to deal with.  Is your dog inside or outside?  My dogs were in the back yard and I let the cat out the front door.  She knew not to go in the back and it worked out pretty well.  Siberians are runners and will chase anything that moves.  It's hard to train a dog to ignore its instincts.  Especially siberians.  As much as I love them, I'll admit that they aren't the smartest breed.

Good luck with your pets.  Please let me know if I can help further.
