Sib Husky with infected chin

Question
I have two exactly 1 yr old huskies, a brother and sister.  My girl, Kora, has anxiety issues sometimes and rubbed her chin raw on the carpet last time I left her to go out of town. It has now become infected despite trying to keep it clean and putting protective lotion on it. Its the size of quarter, hairless, has a bad odor, has pits, and bleeds when she scratchs or plays too rough with her brother. I  know i have to get treatment for it as soon as possible, but money is an issue. Last time they went to the vet it was $400 and I cant afford that again! I was wondering if you could give me an idea of how to talk to the vet about my little girls problem. Everytime we go, they add so much to the bill it becomes unaffordable.  I know we need antibiotics for it, but what else needs to be done and what could they possibly try to add on to raise the cost that isnt neccesary? Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Answer
You can look around your area for a better vet. My vet only usually charges me $35 for a visit + medacation. Do not let them run any tests on your dog, you have the right to refuse the usless tests that they offer. All a wound of this sort needs is Cephalexin, is is fairly inespensive. Rinse it out with mild soap and yes keep it dry, sich means the other dog cannot play with her. (Iodine should be used to cleanse the wound it is found at wal-mart or any old store next to the band-aids)
One thing you can do is go to

and order Fish antibiotics (you should see Cephalexin on the list). I do not suggest using this all the time (Just in a pinch), they are cheep but do not keep long at all (also I believe it is 1 pill per 20lbs of dog), you have to also leave them in the fridge.
