Question
QUESTION: Wow, from reading everything i picked one heck of a breed to start out with haha. i have a few concerns about my puppy Rocky. 1) For the love of everything that exists he will not answer to his name. 2) He goes to the bathroom everywhere but the pad when me and my wife are home (most of the time) but when we are not home or sleeping he goes on the puppy pad WHY!? 3) For some reason he eats alot of grass. Other then those everything else is pretty much cake. hes very playful and hops around like a bunny rabbit 24/7 and now that i think about it number 4 question would be he jumps in the air and does a barrel roll and then he plays dead for about 15 seconds and repeats, also he walks into alot of things and when he walks threw doorways he bangs his hips off the walls. I'm pretty sure hes just playing with himself but i figured since im writting you a book i'd toss that in there to just be sure. any tips or ideas on what to do would be GREATLY Appreciated!!

Thank-you very much!
Tom.

ANSWER: 1) For the love of everything that exists he will not answer to his name.
It probably has no meaning to him yet. Only say his name when good things happen like playing or feeding him when he is learning his name. If you use it negatively Rocky will mean run away. I always give my puppy buyers something to work with. I.E. When I feed my pups I always tap the bowls before I put them down. This way all new puppy owners need to do is tap something and say the pups name eventually Name=tapping mean the same thing to the pup and they no longer have to tap.

2) He goes to the bathroom everywhere but the pad when me and my wife are home (most of the time) but when we are not home or sleeping he goes on the puppy pad WHY!?

Is he on the way to the piddle pad? I know pups have NO to little bladder control till they are 3 to 4 months old. When you are home I am sure the pup has more things to think about then peeing on the pad so he just forgets about it till it is to late and piddles where he stands. When you are asleep and not interacting with the pup, he has very little else to think about then peeing on the pad.

3) For some reason he eats a lot of grass.
Probably has an upset stomach, but some types of grass will make stomach aches worse. Try giving him peas, this might curb the habit.

Other stuff is just your pup being silly. He sounds like a charming fun loving boy!

QUESTION: I took him to the Vet today and she said he has worms and gave me a med to put in his mouth, maybe thats why all the grass? But im learning more and more about these huskys online, and i thinking im going to sign him up at pet smart for the 8 week training classes. Thank-you for everything! What do you think about the puppy classes at Pet Smart and the Worms about the grass?

Answer
Before you commit to petsmart ask if you can watch the trainer teach a class. Petsmart is a Chain store so the trainers will deal with dogs differently from trainer to trainer. No matter what they say, each trainer has their own style. Plus you have to be sure they know how to handle northern breeds. They can be stubborn and pig headed so some trainers hate dealing with them.
I love training them because not everyone can train a Siberian. But get your dog trained somewhere where you get the best results for your money! ^^
I think you are correct he was eating grass because the worms where upsetting his tummy. As far as worms go dogs can pretty much pick them up just by walking in dirt, then licking there feet later so worms are common. Unless it was a Tape worm those are caused by your dog eating a flea.
